Cabbage is one of the most versatile vegetables that is both easy to cook and can be featured in pretty much any and possibly every cultures' cuisine. One of the simplest and delicious ways to cook it is to fry it the American Southern way with bacon and onions. Its not very healthy but its one of those dishes that makes you feel at home that you can indulge in from time to time. Pair this dish with fried fish, fried chicken, fried shrimp, or just make it for a big family gathering. There won't be leftovers!
Ingredients:
-half a head of a medium sized green cabbage or a whole head of a small green cabbage
-1/2 cup red or yellow onions
- 1/4 cup chopped bacon
-2 tbs. olive oil
-2 tbs. butter or margarine
-salt and black pepper to taste
-smoked paprika to taste
Steps:
Heat oil and margarine in a pan. Add cabbage, onions, bacon, and all seasonings. Cook on med-high heat for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Enjoy!
